Ahugammana Ambalama

The Ambalama (Sinhala: අම්බලම) is a simple structure that was designed to provide shelter for passing travellers. There were no charges for using the premises of the Ambalama as it was made, as an offering of goodwill (Pinkama).
The Ahugammana Ambalama is situated along the road to the village of Akurumula in Gampaha District. This ancient Ambalama is beautifully sits overlooking paddy fields. Constructed with brick and mortar, with no artwork. A half-height wall around the building completes the structure The opening is at the front towards the small road. The roof is clad with semi-cylindrical sinhala ulu.
