The central province is located in the heart of Sri Lanka. Made up of natural rainforests, mountainous, grassy hills and the wet-zone areas of the country, this area of land is at an elevation of 600ft to over 6000ft above the sea level. The Central Highlands are famous to hikers offering the perfect location for hiking expeditions. The Knuckles Mountains are a beautiful mountain range that offers fantastic views and is now a favourite location with the returning traveller.
Horton Plains, Devon Falls, the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, fondly known as our very own 'Little England' due to its Victorian designs, hold strong among its most impressive sights and the many tea plantations that dot the landscape to add, to the charm of all that is Sri Lankan.
A rich cultural heritage, with a history of centuries-old caves and temples, the ancient city of Sigirya and the world-famous Sigiriya Rock is now a UNESCO Heritage site offers a breathtakingly beautiful climb to the top are both fascinating to explore and satisfying to discover for both the wandering traveller and for family groups. The famous Ceylon tea is from this Central Province.
